~~Thanksgiving Prayer~~

Postby Dana Brooks » Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:35 am

It will soon be thanksgiving once again
Time for families to eat, celebrate
But not everyone will be so fortunate
Not every soul will be blessed with a full plate

Let's remember to say a silent prayer
For the ones who will barely scrape by
Pray that they will find the strength
For all tears to be wiped from their eyes

Pray that they will find peace at heart
Even though their plates may be empty
Pray they will live a fruitful life
Though food may not come in heaps of plenty

When we bow our heads to say grace
Remember those who thinks no one cares
Be thankful, dont ever forget your gifts
As you say a silent Thanksgiving prayer

Thankgiving Prayer

Postby LadyBlue » Sun Oct 01, 2006 5:33 pm

Dana, this is a beautiful prayer and sadly so true. Before I moved, I used to work every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Daily Bread. It was a shelter where the street people could come to wash clothes, find clothes, ask about jobs and receive food. I worked on the weekends when I could and we would serve them lunch on the two holidays. My sons did it before they left for college and one still does when he is in that area. There are so many that for whatever reason or the other are homeless, some are even families with children. They are so appreciative of the meals and I always felt that it was one of my blessings to be able to help those not as fortunate. This really brings tears as I have seen Moms and Dads just glad their children got a Holiday meal. Bless them all, especially the children, and bless you for bringing it to public attention at this special time of year. These shelters really do more good than the public realizes.

God bless;
Rita

thank you so very, very much Rita...your kind and generous comment just made my afternoon my friend...I feel the same way I also love to help as much as I can the families that are less fortunate it just makes the heart swell with pride just knowing that maybe you have made a difficult situation just a little better...just knowing that you put a smile on another's face and isn't that the most wonderful feeling of all... :D
God Bless you Rita for the work that you do and have done with the less fortunate...what a wonderful human being you truly are for that...you will be richly blessed... :)
